Australia Introduction

This resource was designed to assist student volunteers to become familiar with Australian culture in their preparation for serving overseas. It contains vital information about the history, culture, and everyday life issues that Americans should understand in order to be effective in the "land down under."

A Yank's Guide to Life in Tassie, by Ben Armacost

This book describes the cultural differences between Tasmania and America, written especially for Americans who want to learn more about what it is like in that part of the world. If you're interested in learning about what it's like to live in Tasmania, or planning to visit any time soon, this is a must-read.

Church Planting Movements, by David Garrision

This booklet is an introduction to church planting movements across the globe: what they are, what causes them to happen, and what hinders their growth. It has become the de facto standard text among Southern Baptists, and describes the primary goal of our personnel in virtually every nation in which we serve. It is available in booklet form free of charge from the IMB resource center. Please note that this is the booklet produced in 2000, which has since been replaced by a more comprehensive book published in 2004, by the same author.

Many of these resources require Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to view them.
