Tasmania is Australia's island state, located off the southeast coast of the continent. It is about the size of West Virginia and is home to just under 1/2 million people. The majority of the population is of European descent, mostly from the British Isles but including many of Dutch and German descent. More information about Tasmania can be found in the online book called A Yank's Guide to Life in Tassie.
The Tasmania team is led by Ben & Judy Armacost, strategy coordinators who have been serving in Tasmania since 1996. They have 3 children: Timothy (age 23) who is a nursing school graduate of Union University; Joshua (age 21) who is an engineering student at Union, and Joy (age 16) who is an 11th grade student living at home with her parents. You can access the Armacosts' web page at http://tassiebear.submerging.org.
The Armacosts live in the capital city of Hobart, which has a small population of just under 200,000. Their primary role is working with Anglo Australians.
The section called AIM for Tasmania gives a summary of an approach the Armacosts are using to reach the people and nurture an church planting movement in Australia.
